چکیده
Acinetobacter baumannii is a gram-negative, non fermenting cocobacills that its species are opportunistisic pathogens and cause nosocomial infections among patients in intensive care unit (ICUs).This bacteria cause various infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, endocarditis, and urinary tract [1]. Three decades ago, Acinetobacter baumannii infections treated with traditional antibiotics but today its show resistance to major classes of antibiotics including aminoglycosides, tetracyclines, fluroquinolones, carbapenms, cephalosporins, etc... At last year’s multidrug resistance (MDR) clinical isolates have shown global distribution [2]. Since Discovery and use of antibiotics, resistance to these agents has been observed. That has negative effect on the treatment of infectious disease [3]. Bacteria achieve their resistance to the antibiotics through three mechanisms:

Multidrug-Resistant Strains of Acinetobacter baumannii from Intensive Care Unit Patients Show Genetic Diversity and Distribution of Genes Associated with Aminoglycoside Resistance
Background and Objective: As a significant cause of nosocomial infections, Acinetobacter baumannii has been linked to opportunistic infections. The assessment of clonal relatedness of A. baumannii isolates using typing methods like ERIC-PCR is beneficial for controlling conditions due to these resistant isolates. This research aims to study Acinetobacter baumannii resistant isolates to multidru...
متن کاملRiboswitch Control of Aminoglycoside Antibiotic Resistance
The majority of riboswitches are regulatory RNAs that regulate gene expression by binding small-molecule metabolites. Here we report the discovery of an aminoglycoside-binding riboswitch that is widely distributed among antibiotic-resistant bacterial pathogens. This riboswitch is present in the leader RNA of the resistance genes that encode the aminoglycoside acetyl transferase (AAC) and aminog...
متن کاملFrequency of 16S rRNA Methylase and Aminoglycoside-Modifying Enzyme Genes among Clinical Isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii in Iran
Background & objective: Multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-AB) is an important nosocomial pathogen which is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, particularly in high-risk populations. Aminoglycoside-modifying enzymes (AMEs) and 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) methylation are two important mechanisms of resistance to ...
متن کاملMulti-drug resistance profiles and the genetic features of Acinetobacter baumannii isolates from Bolivia.
INTRODUCTION Acinetobacter baumannii is opportunistic in debilitated hospitalised patients. Because information from some South American countries was previously lacking, this study examined the emergence of multi-resistant A. baumannii in three hospitals in Cochabamba, Bolivia, from 2008 to 2009. METHODOLOGY Multiplex PCR was used to identify the main resistance genes in 15 multi-resistant A...
متن کاملIdentification of aac(2')-I type b aminoglycoside-modifying enzyme genes in resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.
The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism underlying the drug resistance of Acinetobacter baumannii toward aminoglycosides. A total of 32 A. baumannii strains were identified by molecular identification and subsequently isolated. The isolates were then amplified by polymerase chain reaction to analyze the 9 aminoglycoside-modifying enzyme genes and 7 16S rRNA methylase genes. Five ...
